ST JULIANS ALLOTMENT held its annual Christmas lunch and award ceremony last week.
39 members of the allotment society, their friends and family, gathered at Glebelands Indoor Bowls Club, on Sunday 16 December, to kick off the festive season, and find out who had triumphed in the annual Golden Gnome Awards.

After lunch, chairman, Roger Campbell, presented the Golden Gnome for Best Garden to St Julians Allotment stalwart Alan Johnson; while this year’s prize for Best Newcomer went to Mark Herrity. Mark was unable to attend the event, and so the award was accepted on his behalf by Ann Spruce.
It’s hoped the gnomes will take pride of place on the winners’ plots, for members both old and new to admire and be inspired by.
After lunch a raffle to raise funds to improve plot 58 raised £54, and Roger Jones kept everyone amused with a mammoth picture quiz.

The committee would like to wish all members and friends of St Julians Allotment a very Merry Christmas and a productive New Year.
