THE eagle-eyed among you may have noticed a patch of scorched grass opposite the entrance to the St Julians Allotment site.
This was caused by a fire that occurred at around 2.20pm on Saturday afternoon (23rd June).
Prior to the blaze one plot holder smelt smoke and claimed to have seen a group of four youngsters hanging around close to the site gate, carrying handfuls of dry grass.
Around 10 minutes later the GlanUsk School end of the St Julians Allotment site was engulfed in a thick cloud of smoke.
Half-a-dozen allotment members put out the fire using water from the site and the fire service attended the scene.
